Barapolae, South Coorg
Barapole Coorg
Coorg is a picturesque verdurous valleys, rice paddy valleys, forested ridges and heavy monsoon rain. Tucked away in the Southern Corner of this district on the Birunani Road some 28 km from Gonikoppa and nestled in an organic coffee plantation and beautiful Tea gardens of Coorg on the banks of The Upper Barapole we have a well equipped base with reception, changing facilities, refreshments, toilets and showers for your after trip comforts. The Upper Barapole River drains the eastern flanks of Brahmagiri Ghats. A catchment area of enormous rainfall during the south west monsoon, which provides run off into the upper stretches of the Barapole River, known as Kithu Kakathu

After a 4 km calm section the river then drops through several kilometres of class 3, 4 and even class 5 rapids before it enters Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary plummeting over a 120 feet falls. At Ace Paddlers we push your limits here. Needless to say we do not raft beyond this section. We run 3 stretches of this highly technical and (in high water levels) very difficult class 3 to 4 rapids. We consider this the most challenging rafting trip available in the whole of South India.
