The Activity Chart
Training Phase- SKILLS ACQUISITION
Participants start their course, at a base camp or trail head/launch
site.Gear is distributed. Instruction is given. Learn fundamental
skills such as: setting up shelter en-route, navigation, safety
procedures, wilderness cooking, basic first aid, knot tying,
leave-no-trace camping. Familiarise backcountry traveling and
understand the importance of teamwork. In addition with the objective
of learning, notes on ecology, flora and fauna, animal habitat, tribal
life, etc will be included. Camp side workshops are well structured,
easy-paced and effectively facilitated.
Main Phase- TEAM BUILDING
Once skills are acquired the next task at hand is: co-existence of
participants and the team Ace Paddlers. This means not only putting
their newly acquired skills into practice but also developing a
strategy with their group to become a high performing team.
SOLO-REFLECTION
Solo is a time in solitude to reflect, relax and recharge. It is in
sharp contrast to the physical rigors and intensity of the group
experience. It is not a survival experience. Each participant is
assigned an isolated place. It is a time of contemplation to allow
their experiences to sink in and set goals for the rest of the course
and for when they return home.
Final- SUCCESS THROUGH EXPEDITION
The last third of the expedition participants will make use of the
opportunity of putting all of it together. Instructors will set back
and ask them and the group to take responsibility for the expedition.
On longer courses the instructors will become silent group members,
ready to intervene if necessary, but willing to let participants and
their group flounder and succeed as they organize the team and navigate
on their own. The responsibility is real, the interdependence vital,
skills practical and success their own to savour.
Camp-side Workshops
As value addition to their grueling experiences in the great outdoors
are the confidence building, etiquette, self grooming, management,
public speaking skills, reading and study skills, memory skills,
creative thinking, habits for success, time management, hobbies for
pleasure, balanced physique, diet program, communication skills, yoga
and meditation, self healing exercises and many more.
